Dear First Grade Families,
This week is a short week because Friday is a teacher training day. We will have class as usual with one day less of each subject. Please remember to talk to your kids about bullying. Bullying is teasing, hitting, kicking, taking other’s things, etc. It will not be tolerated. Encourage your child to tell an adult if they are being bullied. We can’t help them if we don’t know it is happening. Let’s all work together to keep all children happy and safe at school.
Please help your child practice their words with daily spelling homework. Daily reading is important. Sign the reading log after they read 20 minutes each day. Keep up with completing math sheets also.
This week we are practicing letter sounds as well as working on comprehension as we listen to Rotten Teeth in SFA Reading. We are reviewing chunking and word endings. In Science we are learning about gravel, pebbles, cobbles, and boulders and sort the rocks. In Social Studies we are learning about country, state, and city. We will create a chart to help us remember their sizes. In Math we are learning about place value and writing numbers from 100-200.
