Arizona Academy of Leadership
Dear Parents and Guardians;

We are celebrating Love of Reading Week February 15-19, 2010. We invite you to celebrate with us at home and school. We are encouraging your children to shut off the TV and video games for this week in February. We invite them to spend time reading with you and alone. Reading opens so many doors for all of us. At school there will be activities centered on reading each day.

Our schedule is as follows:
Monday/February 15, 2010: Guest Reader Day: We have invited Guest Readers to visit our school at 9:00am. They will read in each class. The guest readers are Councilwoman Mrs. Romero or her Aide, Policeman Sgt. Gallego, Olympian Swimmer Lacey Nymeyer, Director of school Mrs. Strozier, Elementary Principal, Ms. Ayon, and Jr. High Principal Mr. Strozier.

Tuesday/February 16, 2010: Door Judging. Students will illustrate a door with their interpretation of a class selected book. These doors will be judged and prizes given.

Wednesday/February 17, 2010: Read Me Day. Students are invited to wear a shirt, jeans and/or buttons with words on them. ALL clothing will be school appropriate. Only those students participating in this activity are allowed to have an extra jean day.

Thursday/February 18, 2010: Spaghetti Dinner/Registration/Reading Evening. Come join us after tutoring classes for a Spaghetti Dinner and night of reading fun. Your child is invited to read to his/her family in his/her class. We will enjoy milk and cookies as refreshments. You will be able to register your child(ren) for the school year 2010-2011 at Arizona Academy of Leadership. The event will begin at 5:00 pm with dinner followed by reading fun. The evening will conclude at 6:30pm. The Spaghetti Dinner assignments are: Spaghetti: K-1, Spaghetti Sauce: 2-4, Salad and Dressing: 5-6, and Cookies: 7-8. Thank you for your support. See your child’s teacher if there are any questions.

Friday/February 19, 2010: D.E.A.R. Time-Drop Everything and Read. Each class will have a thirty minutes time period after their lunch break to read quietly in their classroom. Students are invited to wear P.J.s to school. We are encourage blankets, pillows and stuffed animals to be left at home. Slippers can be wore IN THE CLASSROOM ONLY.
Reading opens many doors.
Open our door on February 15-19, 2010 and join the FUN!!!!
