Week of May 24th, 2010

May 24th, 2010

Dear First Graders and Parents,

It seems like just yesterday I was setting up my classroom. The year has gone by so quickly. I am excited about all that we have learned together. I feel honored to have been a big part of your child’s and your family’s life for these past ten months. For those coming back next year, I hope we run into each other in the hallway. For those going to a different school, maybe we will see each other around town. Good luck to you all this summer and next school year. Have a fun and safe summer! I will miss you all! I love every one of you so much!

Tomorrow, Tuesday, we will clean out our desks, so please bring a large backpack and a grocery bag for everything in your desk. We will have our ice cream sundae party after lunch. I have down Anthony and Esmeralda bringing ice cream. I also have Emanuel bringing bowls and spoons. We need chocolate syrup and canned whipped cream for toppings. We will have a class awards ceremony in classroom at 2:30 pm and families are invited!

Remember if you bring new students to our school for next year, they have no more than three absences, and they stay at least through December you get $100 for your family. Call the office for more information.

If anyone wants to write to me this summer, you can either email me or send a letter through the mail. I will be on vacation from June 17th through July 2nd.

Dear First Grade Parents,

Wow! This is our last full week of school. We have full days everyday accept the usual 1 pm dismissal on Wednesday. Our last day of school is May 25th ending at 3 pm. We have no homework accept reading each night for 15 minutes. Please write it on a piece of lined paper.

I will be doing AIMS Web assessments to compare their spelling, reading fluency, number sense and math computation to the test given in August or whenever your child came to our school. I will also be giving the students an end of the year Math Assessment to see how well they learned the Math concepts from our Math curriculum. Please send them to school everyday unless they are sick.

It has been a pleasure teaching each child in my class. We will celebrate our accomplishment next week with a party after we clean up our classroom. If you can donate disposable bowls, spoons, ice cream, chocolate syrup, or a can of whipped cream please send me a note.

Report cards and AIMS Web test results will be sent home next week.

Thank you,
Mrs. Brown

Dear First Grade Parents,

We need all the permission slips returned as well as the $2.00 for the field trip by now. I am still planning for drivers for the trip until I hear differently from the director. Please send in copies of your driver’s license and car insurance if you want to drive. I am looking forward to this trip. I need all drivers’ copies of license, insurance and registration now! Some students are missing permission slips!

We are having field day on Friday of this week. We will leave for a walk to Mission manor Park at 10 am. Please sign the permission slip that is attached. I also need 5 volunteers to walk with us to the park and help with the kids and our game. Please let me know by Thursday if you can come and help. Without at least 4 volunteers we cannot go! Thank you for all you do.
